SALMENKARI

Holiday home details

Salmenkari is a traditional, hand-built round-log cabin located on Havukkasaari island, on the shore of Lake Kermajärvi. The island is accessible by road.

Located 48 km northeast of Varkaus, at an elevation of 20 m by Lake Kermajärvi. There is around 300 metres of shoreline and two jetties. By the larger jetty, the lake bottom is stony and deepens quickly, while by the other jetty the shore is shallow with a firm (sandy) bottom. A rowing boat is available for guests, and a 2.3 hp outboard motor can be rented from the owner.

The log cabin was built in 1982 and has been renovated over the years. The large combined kitchen/living room has a fold-out bed for two, one bedroom has a double bed, and the other bedroom has two beds. There is a spacious covered porch with a gas grill.

The lakeside sauna has a changing room, and the sauna itself has a wood-burning stove. Washing water is heated in the stove’s water tank, with water pumped in from the lake. The grill shelter includes an open-fire kota kitchen for cooking.

There is a separate utility building with a shower and washing machine, as well as a composting toilet. There is also a traditional outdoor toilet.

Household water is pumped into the cabin from the lake, and a reverse osmosis system is used to purify the lake water to drinking quality. Warm water is also available in the kitchen.

Pets are welcome at this rental cabin (maximum 2 pets per booking).
