Solomaja is an electrified cottage located in an area with excellent opportunities for self-guided hiking and fishing. The Inari hiking area, with its trails and services, extends to Solojärvi lake. The nearest fell is Otsamo, on the other side of Solojärvi, about 3 km away (reachable by boat and on foot).
A kelo log cabin, built in 1977. The living room has 2 sofa beds, the alcove has a bunk bed and 1 separate bed (bunk bed length only 170 cm, separate bed length 190 cm), a kitchenette, sauna, dressing room and a covered porch. Access to the sauna and dressing room is through the porch.
The cottage has no running water. The kitchen has a sink with drainage. Water for the sauna is carried from the lake (15 m away). The sauna has a water tank for heating water. Drinking water must be brought with you.
Outdoor toilet.
WILDERNESS CABIN: Wilderness cabins are best suited as a base for fishing, hiking or hunting trips. The property is not pre-heated before the start of your stay. The guest is responsible for cleaning the cabin during and after the stay. Due to long distances, maintenance staff do not inspect the cabin after every guest. If the property is uncleaned or has any shortcomings on arrival, please contact the property caretaker immediately by phone. Guests must bring their own sheets and towels (not available for rent).
Fishing: The renowned Juutuanjoki fly-fishing area begins at Lake Solojärvi; the nearest rapids are Jurmukoski, close to the mouth of the Juutuanjoki (starting point from the lake) — see site 1578 (www.eraluvat.fi). The fishing waters of the Inari hiking area are also nearby, site 1579 (www.eraluvat.fi); Inari Wilderness Area, site 1564 (www.eraluvat.fi); Lake Inari 13 km, site 1580 (www.eraluvat.fi).
Hunting: Hammastunturi, site 1610. Permits available for ptarmigan, waterfowl, hare and small predators (www.eraluvat.fi).
Inari town centre services 11 km. Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida 11 km, Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos 11 km. Lemmenjoki National Park 33 km.
Inari–Kittilä main road 90 m away, with light traffic.
