Lakeside cabin on the banks of the Ivalojoki River. The log cabin was originally built in 1983 but was completely rebuilt in 2023 and equipped for modern comfort while respecting the traditional cabin atmosphere.
The cabin offers space for two sleepers in a sleeping alcove with two 80 cm wide beds. In addition, two 80 cm wide additional mattresses are available for the sofa and the folding mattress in the living area. For families with children, a crib and a high chair are available by advance request for an additional fee — please ask the host about this.
Sauna bathing is arranged in traditional style: there is a separate sauna building in the yard with a wood-burning stove. Water for the sauna is carried from the river.
The cabin is heated with electricity and a wood-burning stove, which keeps the atmosphere cosy for longer periods.
Household water is carried from the nearby watercourse, and guests should bring their own drinking water. There is no indoor toilet; an incinerating electric toilet is located next to the sauna building.
Wi-Fi is available, so you’ll stay connected even though the cabin otherwise offers a pleasantly remote, wilderness-like feel.
The kitchen has a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, an induction cooktop (no oven) and Airfryer so basic cooking is easy to manage. There is no running water indoors, and dishwashing is done at the washing area in the yard. The yard also has a covered terrace area with a gas grill and a fire pit.
The water level by the cabin’s shoreline varies, the bank is quite steep and the current can be strong, so extra caution is needed when swimming. A rowing boat is available for guests’ use, allowing trips to, for example, nearby sandy beaches along the Ivalojoki River. The nearest public swimming spot in Ivalo is 4.6 km away. The nearest ski track is 5.1 km away (with a 30 km trail network), and the shop, restaurant and bus stop are approximately 6.5 km away.
1–2 pets are welcome at the cabin for an additional fee.
This cabin is especially well suited to small groups or families who appreciate a genuine wilderness atmosphere. If you’re looking to escape everyday life without unnecessary hustle, this cabin offers exactly that.
6 km to Ivalo, 37 km to Saariselkä. Hammastunturi Wilderness Area, Inari Hiking Area and UKK National Park are all within an hour's drive.
Natural conditions (e.g. water levels) may vary and affect, for example, the accuracy of the shoreline description. Lomarengas is not responsible for such changes or their impact on the use of the property. Further information in the booking terms.
