28 km north of Kuusamo, 1.5 km along the Ruka hiking trail, 6.5 km by car (1.5 km along the ski track), Valkeisenlampi 100 m.
A wood/stone holiday home built in 1989, part of a semi-detached house with a practical floor plan. The spacious, bright living room/kitchen has a large south-facing window, and the bedrooms are roomy. The dining area has a breakfast cupboard (microwave, kettle and toaster). The living room has a heat-retaining fireplace with a warming oven, suitable for example for slow-cooking food.
Bedroom 1: 2 beds and a remote-work desk, bedroom 2: 2 beds and a remote-work desk, bedroom 3: 2 beds. All bedrooms have blackout curtains. The bedrooms and hallway have spacious storage cupboards.
The holiday home has been renovated and most surfaces have been updated, most recently in 2022–23 (for example the sauna and washroom, toilet, parts of the floor, ceiling and wall surfaces, appliances and kitchen).
Wireless mobile broadband connection, a Playstation 3 with a wide selection of games, and 2 workstations for remote work (including a monitor and keyboard). The stereo has Bluetooth connectivity.
The high chair is a Stokke Tripp-Trapp chair; a travel cot, potty and step stool for children are also available. The lockable storage unit contains sledges, slides and 3 Stiga children's kick sledges.
The terrace has a table, 5 chairs and a bench. The kettle grill and terrace furniture are available during the snow-free season.
The cabin's location is excellent for viewing the northern lights, as there is no disruptive light to the north of the cabin that would weaken the visibility of the aurora.
There is a possibility to charge a hybrid or electric car using slow charging (e.g. 8A); the SuperSchuko socket is protected by a 10A circuit breaker.
There is a spacious, lockable outdoor storage shed.
Additional information: There are other properties in the area as well. The nearest ski lift is Pessari (900 m); to reach it, you need to descend a steep slope from the cabin area down to Lake Yli-Pessarilampi, which you cross to reach the Pessari lift.
Other distances: in summer, it is 50 m to the Valkeisenvaara hiking trail, 2.5 km to the Valtavaaranlampi lean-to shelter, and from there a further 4.9 km along the Karhunkierros hiking trail to the summit of Konttainen. By foot, bike or ski trail, it is 1.5 km to the village of Ruka (West Ruka) and 2.5 km to the nearest shop. Oulanka National Park / the Little Bear's Trail (Pieni Karhunkierros) is 20 km away, Riisitunturi is 26 km away, and Kuusamo Airport is 31 km away.
Pets are not allowed, but please note that the owner's own dog visits the cabin a few times a year.
Bookings begin at 4 PM and end at 12 PM on the departure day (this also applies to weekend bookings).
