This property offers a cozy setting for a relaxing holiday, suitable for couples, families, and small groups of friends. The tranquility of nature, private lakeshore, and traditional wood-heated sauna provide an authentic Finnish cottage experience.
The house was built in 1949. Guests have access to the entire ground floor, accommodating up to five people. The upper floor is not included in the rental.
The ground floor has one bedroom with a 160 cm wide double bed. The bright living room also includes a 120 cm wide bed and a sofa bed that opens to a width of 140 cm. The heart of the property is the atmospheric fireplace/baking oven, which can be pre-heated before your arrival. For safety reasons, only the owner is allowed to heat the fireplace.
The stylishly renovated kitchen is well-equipped for cooking and includes a dining set for six people. It is suitable for both everyday meals and shared evening gatherings.
Families with children are particularly well-catered for. Available amenities include a children's play corner, travel cot, high chair, potty, and children's dining utensils, making it easy to vacation with even the youngest travelers.
The cabin has one toilet and a separate shower room. Additionally, there is a cozy wood-heated sauna with its own shower in the sauna room. It's a pleasant place to relax after an active day.
At the lakeshore of Ruuhijärvi, guests have access to a rowing boat for enjoying the lake views or fishing. For safety, the cabin provides two adult and two children's life jackets. The lakeshore is not recommended for swimming due to reeds and a muddy bottom. Ritavalkea Ski Center is 25.7 km away for winter enthusiasts.
Puistola is an excellent choice for holidaymakers and hunters who appreciate a peaceful lakeside setting, traditional Finnish cottage atmosphere, and high-quality accommodation in the heart of nature.
Nearby (1.1 km) is Takapalo Pony Farm, offering activities such as pony riding.
The cabin located on the shores of Lake Ruuhijärvi offers an excellent base for hunting enthusiasts. The surrounding area features extensive state hunting grounds managed by Metsähallitus, where hunting is permitted with valid permits from the Eräluvat service. The region is known for its diverse game population, and in the autumn, opportunities include hunting for capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, willow ptarmigan, hare, and small predators according to the hunting seasons.
The wilderness areas around Ruuhijärvi, Meltaus, and Rovaniemi offer varied terrains—pine forests, marshes, and old-growth forests—that are ideal for independent hunting as well as for those hunting with bird dogs. After a day of hunting, it's pleasant to return to the tranquility of the cabin, enjoy the sauna, and relax by the lakeshore.
