Booking Fee 22 €Pet fee 36.4 € / pcsA log cabin built in 1986. In the living area, there is a sofa bed, and in the alcove, there are 2 beds. The cabin has a kitchenette, a low loft with steep stairs (no mattresses in the loft), and a covered porch. The cabin does not have running water, but the kitchenette has a drain. A shared sauna is located 20 meters away and is heated every other evening. The sauna features a wood-burning stove and a water heater. Water for the sauna is carried from the well or the lake. A grill shelter and a lakeside campfire site are shared with other guests.
A beautiful bio-composting dry toilet, built in summer 2024, is located on the cabin's terrace with access from outside.
Located 110 km southeast of Rovaniemi and 30 km east of Ranua center, in the village of Saariharju by Lake Saarijärvi. The lakeshore has a sandy bottom, while the area by the pier has a muddy bottom. The shore, pier, and rowing boat are shared with the owner and other guests (only 3 cabins).
The owner has invested in organic materials. For example, mattresses in the alcove are made of horse-based materials (Futon).
Papu is a part of a small nature tourism company. There are two cabins and accommodation also at the owner’s house within 40 m distance.
Baby carrier and jogging strollers can be rented from the owner.
The cabin is an ideal as a base for nature trips and wilderness activities. The location gives also good opportunities to explore tourist activities in Ranua and Posio.
Ranua Zoo 35 km, Pentik in Posio 52 km.
Hunting: The nearest point of small game hunting area located on state owned lands is within 3 km, see destination 2619 Posio (www.eraluvat.fi).
Fishing: Fishing in lakes and ponds in the area is usually permitted with fisheries management fee. One fishing rod can be used. However, fishing is not permitted in streaming waters considered to contain migratory fish (see wweraluvat.fi).
The nearest point of river Simojoki is within 20 km (2580 Simojoki, www.eraluvat.fi). The river is also good for canoeing.
Destination 2597 Simojärvi (www.eraluvat.fi) is also well reachable.
