Kierinki is one of the few villages in Lapland that was spared from wartime destruction. The village offers a local shop, café, art gallery, reservation restaurant, small hotel, nature experience service providers, and snowmobile rental.
Kierinki village is situated 112 km north of Rovaniemi and 65 km southwest of Sodankylä.
This traditional wooden house in a rural setting was originally built in 1962 and renovated in 2012. All amenities are on one floor, with a comfortable sofa set, large smart TV, and a sofa bed (120 cm wide when opened) in the living room. The combined kitchen/living room provides ample space for cooking and dining. The master bedroom has a 160 cm wide double bed, and the second bedroom has a 140 cm bed. The sauna features an electric stove, and the bathroom includes a washing machine and dryer, with a separate toilet accessible from the entrance hall. There is a basement (accessed from inside the house) and a covered, partially glazed terrace at the back of the house, accessible from the living room. The backyard is fenced.
The cottage is primarily heated with electric radiators and an air-source heat pump. A wood-burning baking oven and wood stove provide secondary, comfort-enhancing heat sources.
Pets are allowed for an additional fee, charged per pet.
The snowmobile trail network passes through the village shop. There is a fuel sales in the village shop. Therefore, this destination is ideal for snowmobilers. Several other activities available like hunting/fishing and organized excursions (for example snowmobile safaris, dog sledding and fishing trips).
The swimming beach, fireplace and lean-to shelter maintained by the village association on Riipijoki, distance 1 km.
There are also many cultural events arranged in the village (www.kierinki.fi).
Hunting: Small game hunting area on state owned lands, 2613 Maunu (see www.eraluvat.fi) within 15 km distance. Other hunting destinations 3606 Vasaselkä and 3617 Pomo-Rajala can be easily reached too.
Fishing: Fishing in lakes (including large and fishy lake Unarinjärvi) is usually permitted with fisheries management fee. One fishing rod can be used. More information, see www.eraluvat.fi. Fishing in rapids is also possible. An excellent destination is river Meltausjoki, which starts from the lake Unarinjärvi within 24 km distance. Destination 2561 Meltausjoki (www.eraluvat.fi).
