Äkäslompolo
Äkäslompolo is a village in the municipality of Kolari, close to Yllästunturi and has about 500 permanent residents. The main source of livelihood in the village is tourism. Äkäslompolo is also known as the village of the Seven Mountains. These seven fells include Yllästunturi, Kuertunturi, Kukastunturi, Pyhätunturi, Kesänki, Lainiotunturi and Kellostapuli. Hundreds of kilometers of cross-country trails run between the fells, where you can find skiing according to every condition and enthusiasm! There is also its own route for snowshoeing and winter cycling. Moving in nature, which has become very popular in summer, is suitable for Äkäslompolo and Ylläs.
